Google/Blogger sign in

Just wondering if anybody else thiks comments which require a Google/Blogger sign in are a bit off. I’m not against using a verified system to identify people, but I do think you’re got to allow people to commment anonymously, but I am NOT going to give you the username and password to my Googlemail or Blogger account. I don’t care if you’re using a safe plugin that never gives the owner of the site access to the details, the problem is I could knock up a bogus one of those in about an hour – sorry I don’t think there has ever been a post which could possibly be worth making me risk that information just to leave a comment.

If they required that, I wouldn’t comment

absolutely – that’s my point. I’ve noticed that some of the new twitter webapps have the same thing – you need to enter your twitter username & password to use them, I feel OK for popular apps I’ve downloaded, but web apps I’m a bit iffy about.
